Ethane-1,2-dithiol, also known as 1,2-ethanedithiol or HSCH2CH2SH, is an organosulfur compound with the chemical formula C2H6S2. It is a colorless liquid with a strong, unpleasant odor, characteristic of thiols. The molecule consists of an ethane backbone with two thiol (-SH) functional groups, one attached to each carbon atom.

Ethane-1,2-dithiol is soluble in many organic solvents and is miscible with water to some extent. It is a relatively reactive compound due to the presence of the thiol groups. These groups can undergo oxidation, forming disulfides, and can also react with metals to form thiolates.
