Escin

Escin is a complex mixture of saponins extracted primarily from the seeds of the horse chestnut tree, Aesculus hippocastanum. It is a naturally occurring substance with a long history of traditional use, particularly in Europe, for its purported medicinal properties. The main active components within escin are believed to be beta-escin and alpha-escin.

The pharmacological actions attributed to escin are diverse. It is most widely recognized for its potential anti-inflammatory and vasoprotective effects.
