Erronea

Erronea is a genus of small, ovate to globose land snails belonging to the family Pupillidae. These snails are characterized by their typically sinistral (left-handed) coiling and their small, usually toothed apertures. The shells of Erronea species are often translucent or milky white and exhibit a smooth to slightly ribbed surface. They are found in a variety of habitats, often preferring damp or humid environments such as leaf litter, moss, and under rocks. Their distribution is primarily in Southeast Asia and parts of the Pacific islands.

The diet of Erronea snails generally consists of algae, fungi, and decaying plant matter, contributing to their role as detritivores in their ecosystems. Reproduction is typically oviparous, with females laying small clutches of eggs. The larval stage, known as a glochidium, is absent in these terrestrial snails. Due to their small size and often cryptic nature, Erronea snails are not as well-studied as some other gastropod groups. Conservation status varies among species, with some being more widespread and common than others, while a few may face threats from habitat loss and environmental changes.
