Erriadh
Erriadh is a village on the eastern coast of Tunisia's island of Djerba, in the Médenine Governorate. It lies near Houmt Souk, the island's main town, and is the site of the El Ghriba synagogue, one of Africa's oldest Jewish houses of worship, located in the El Ghriba quarter of the village. The synagogue's origins are uncertain, but many traditions place its founding in late antiquity, with some sources dating to the 6th century CE. It has long served as a pilgrimage site for Tunisian Jews and visitors of various backgrounds, and the annual Lag BaOmer festival has drawn participants from across the region. The site has weathered security challenges, including a 2002 terrorist attack that targeted pilgrims at El Ghriba, leading to increased security in the area.
