Erotinjärjestelmän

The erotinjärjestelmän, commonly referred to as the reproductive system, is a biological system composed of all the organs involved in sexual reproduction. It includes both internal and external organs and is responsible for the production of gametes (sex cells) and hormones that drive sexual development and reproduction.

In males, the reproductive system includes the testes, which produce sperm and testosterone. The sperm travel through the vas deferens to the seminal vesicles and prostate gland, which produce seminal fluid. This fluid mixes with sperm to form semen, which is expelled from the body through the penis during ejaculation.

In females, the reproductive system includes the ovaries, which produce eggs and estrogen. The egg travels through the fallopian tube to the uterus, where it can be fertilized by sperm. If fertilization occurs, the fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall and develops into a fetus. If fertilization does not occur, the uterine lining is shed during menstruation. The vagina connects the uterus to the outside of the body and serves as the birth canal.

The hormones produced by the reproductive system, such as testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone, are crucial for sexual maturation, the development of secondary sexual characteristics, and the regulation of the reproductive cycle. The reproductive system is essential for the continuation of the species.
