Erech
Erech is the English name used in some biblical translations for an ancient city of southern Mesopotamia, commonly identified with the city of Uruk. Uruk was one of the earliest large urban centers in the world, flourishing in the Uruk period of the 4th millennium BCE and remaining influential through subsequent periods of Sumerian and Akkadian rule.
