Epikutantestung
Epikutantestung, also known as patch testing, is a diagnostic method used in dermatology to identify allergens that cause allergic contact dermatitis. This condition is a delayed hypersensitivity reaction that occurs when the skin comes into contact with a substance to which an individual is sensitized. The test involves applying small amounts of suspected allergens to the skin, typically on the back, under occlusion. These allergens are usually in the form of a paste or on patches.
The patches are left in place for 48 hours, during which time the individual should avoid showering
The results are interpreted by a trained healthcare professional who will assess the presence, type, and severity
