Epidermisceller
Epidermisceller, also known as epidermal cells, are the primary cell type found in the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. These cells originate from the basal layer of the epidermis through a process called keratinization. As they mature, epidermisceller migrate upwards, flattening and accumulating keratin, a tough, fibrous protein. This process leads to the formation of the stratum corneum, the outermost protective barrier of the skin.
Epidermisceller play a crucial role in protecting the body from environmental insults, such as mechanical damage,
There are several specialized types of epidermisceller. Keratinocytes are the most abundant, responsible for producing keratin.
