Ensco

Ensco was a multinational offshore drilling contractor that owned and operated a fleet of drilling rigs used in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas offshore. The company served major oil and gas producers worldwide, operating in various offshore environments, from shallow coastal areas to deepwater fields.

In its history, Ensco operated as a stand-alone company under the name Ensco International, Inc., and later as Ensco plc. In 2019, Ensco plc merged with Rowan Companies plc to form EnscoRowan plc. The combined company later rebranded as Valaris plc in 2020, and Valaris became one of the world's largest offshore drilling contractors.

Ensco's fleet was diversified, including jack-up rigs and floating rigs such as semi-submersibles and drillships. Through its contracting services, the company supported exploration and production activities worldwide, with contracts typically awarded by major international oil companies and national oil companies.

Following the merger, the Ensco brand was retired, with assets and business integrated into Valaris. The Ensco lineage continues as part of the corporate history of Valaris and Rowan Companies, which today operates under the Valaris umbrella.
