Enkeltmetaller

Enkeltmetaller, also known as monovalent metals, are a group of chemical elements that have a single electron in their outermost shell, making them highly reactive. This group includes the alkali metals and the coinage metals. The alkali metals, located in Group 1 of the periodic table, are lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), cesium (Cs), and francium (Fr). These metals are highly reactive and are never found in nature as free elements. They react vigorously with water, releasing hydrogen gas and forming hydroxides. The coinage metals, located in Group 11, are copper (Cu), silver (Ag), and gold (Au). These metals are less reactive than the alkali metals but still exhibit some reactivity, particularly with halogens and oxygen. Enkeltmetaller are important in various applications, including electronics, medicine, and jewelry. Their reactivity and unique properties make them valuable in both industrial and scientific contexts.
