Nuclear energy, while primarily a source of energy generation, also involves inherent storage within atomic nuclei.

The choice of energy storage method depends on factors like the amount of energy to be stored, the required rate of energy release, efficiency, cost, and environmental impact. Advances in energy storage technology are vital for renewable energy integration, grid stability, and the development of portable electronic devices and electric vehicles.
