Energiaértékkel

Energiaértékkel is the instrumental case form of energiaérték, i.e., the energy value of a food or drink. In nutrition, the energy value indicates how much energy the product provides and is typically expressed per 100 g or per serving in both kilojoules (kJ) and kilocalories (kcal). The Hungarian term energiaérték (or its form energiaértékkel) is used in texts and labeling to refer to this concept; energiaértékkel denotes that information is provided with respect to the energy value.

Calculation: The energy value is estimated from macronutrients: fat approximately 9 kcal/g (37 kJ/g), carbohydrates and protein about 4 kcal/g (16 kJ/g). Alcohol contributes about 7 kcal/g. The total energy value per 100 g or per portion is the sum. The exact factors used in labeling may be standardized and rounded.

Regulation: In Hungary, as in the European Union, nutrition labeling requires displaying the energy value on packaged foods. The information is provided in both kJ and kcal, per 100 g or per portion, and may be accompanied by the reference intake as part of the labeling guidelines (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011). The term energiaértékkel may appear in educational texts or regulatory language to indicate the energy information is included.
