Enantioerittelyn is a term used in chemistry to describe the process of separating enantiomers from a racemic mixture. Enantiomers are stereoisomers that are non-superimposable mirror images of each other. A racemic mixture, also known as a racemate, contains equal amounts of both enantiomers. This separation is crucial in many applications, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry, where different enantiomers of a drug can have vastly different pharmacological effects, with one enantiomer potentially being therapeutic and the other inactive or even toxic.
