Transportation, from cars and trucks to airplanes and ships, emits greenhouse gases, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. Agricultural practices, such as livestock farming and fertilizer use, release ammonia, methane, and nitrous oxide. Residential activities, including heating, cooking, and waste disposal, also contribute to emissions. Furthermore, the combustion of fossil fuels for energy production is a primary driver of anthropogenic emissions. Identifying and quantifying emissions from these varied sources is a key step in environmental management and policy-making.
