Embarq

Embarq was a telecommunications company that operated in the United States. It was formed in 2006 as a spin-off of the local telephone operations of Sprint Nextel. Embarq provided a range of services, including local and long-distance phone service, high-speed internet, and digital television. The company's primary service area included parts of the Midwest, South, and West. Embarq focused on integrating these services to offer bundled packages to its customers.

In 2009, Embarq was acquired by CenturyTel, another telecommunications provider. Following the acquisition, the combined entity adopted the name CenturyLink. The merger aimed to create a larger, more competitive telecommunications company with a broader geographic reach and a more comprehensive service portfolio. The Embarq brand was subsequently phased out as the integration of the two companies progressed. The legacy of Embarq can be seen in the continued operation of its former service areas under the CenturyLink, and later Lumen Technologies, name.
