Emakavälimist

Emakavälimist, also known as a vaginal speculum, is a medical instrument used during gynecological examinations. It is designed to allow visualization of the vaginal walls and cervix. The instrument typically consists of two blades that can be inserted into the vagina and then opened to spread the vaginal walls apart. This process provides a clear view of the internal reproductive organs.

There are various types of specula, including the Pederson, Pederson-Kogan, and Graves specula, which differ in their blade shape and size. They are commonly made of metal or plastic. Metal specula are reusable and must be sterilized between uses, while plastic specula are typically disposable. The choice of speculum often depends on the patient's anatomy and the physician's preference.
