Eltörlesztési

Eltörlesztési is a Hungarian term used in finance to describe the process or act of paying off a debt, either in full or in part, thereby extinguishing the obligation. The word is formed from törlesztés (repayment) with the prefix el- indicating completion or fulfillment, and the adjectival form eltörlesztési appears in legal and contractual language to describe things related to repayment. In practice, eltörlesztési can refer to the overall repayment process, a scheduled repayment plan, or a specific repayment event within a loan agreement.

Common usages include eltörlesztési ütemterv (repayment timetable), eltörlesztési határidő (repayment deadline), and references to the borrower's obligations to make regular törlesztőrészletek (installments). It is distinct from előtörlesztés, which means early repayment and may incur adjustments to the loan’s terms, interest, or fees. Contracts often specify the amounts of principal and interest to be paid, due dates, grace periods, and the consequences of late payments (késedelmi kamat or penalties).

In Hungarian law and financial practice, debt instruments and consumer loans typically include provisions for settlement of obligations upon full repayment, with eltörlesztési terms governed by the contract and applicable civil law. The term is primarily used in formal or financial writing; in everyday language people may refer more simply to törlesztés or a payment schedule.
