Elszívás

Elszívás is a Hungarian term that broadly translates to "smoking out," "extraction," or "exhausting." In its most common usage, it refers to the process of removing something through suction or ventilation. This can apply to various contexts, including air purification, culinary practices, and even more abstract concepts.

In the context of ventilation, elszívás describes the function of extractor hoods or fans designed to remove unwanted fumes, smoke, or odors from a space. For example, kitchen extractor hoods (konyhai elszívók) are used to vent cooking fumes and grease particles away from the cooking area, improving air quality in the kitchen. Similarly, industrial ventilation systems employ elszívás to remove hazardous or unpleasant airborne substances from workplaces.

The term can also be used metaphorically. For instance, "információ elszívás" might refer to the gradual or subtle extraction of information from someone, perhaps through questioning or observation. In a more literal, though less common, sense, it could refer to the act of smoking a cigarette or other substance, where the smoke is drawn into the lungs. However, the primary and most frequent application of elszívás relates to mechanical ventilation and air quality control.
