Elokuvateoria, often translated as film theory, is a field of academic study that analyzes and interprets films. It examines the fundamental principles, structures, and meanings of cinema, exploring how films construct meaning, influence audiences, and reflect cultural values. Different theoretical approaches offer diverse lenses through which to understand cinema. Formalist theories, for instance, focus on the visual and auditory elements of filmmaking, such as editing, cinematography, and sound design, to understand how they contribute to the film's aesthetic and narrative.
