Elnyomtatásban

Elnyomtatásban is a Hungarian term used to describe a state of oppression or suppression in which individuals or groups lack political and civil freedoms. It is used in academic writing, journalism and literature to discuss contexts where power is exercised coercively, restricting rights, expression, or movement.

Etymology and usage: The form derives from elnyomás (oppression) with the locative suffix -ban, meaning "in" or "within." In everyday Hungarian, more common phrases for the same idea are elnyomás alatt or a description of the conditions as being under oppression; elnyomtatásban is encountered mainly in formal or literary contexts.

Contexts and forms: Oppression may be political, legal, social, or economic. Political repression can involve censorship, arbitrary detention, lack of fair trials, or surveillance. Economic forms include exclusion from property rights, employment, or access to essential services. Social and cultural suppression may manifest as discrimination against ethnicity, religion, gender, or language, and the suppression of cultural expression.
