Ellenrzvizsgálatok, often translated as "examinations of the fetus," refers to a range of medical procedures used to assess the health and development of a baby during pregnancy. These investigations are crucial for monitoring fetal well-being and identifying potential complications early on. The most common type of ellenrzvizsgálatok is ultrasound, also known as sonography. This imaging technique uses sound waves to create visual representations of the fetus, amniotic fluid, and placenta. Ultrasounds can be performed transabdominally (on the surface of the abdomen) or transvaginally (internally).

Other ellenrzvizsgálatok include non-stress tests (NSTs) and biophysical profiles (BPPs). NSTs monitor the baby's heart rate in response to movement, while BPPs combine an NST with an ultrasound to assess fetal breathing, movement, muscle tone, and amniotic fluid volume. More invasive procedures, such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS), involve collecting fetal cells for genetic testing to detect chromosomal abnormalities and other inherited conditions. These tests are typically offered to pregnant individuals with a higher risk of genetic disorders or other concerns.
