Elektrorasierern

An Elektrorasierer, also known as an electric razor, is a personal care device that shaves hair using oscillating blades or a rotating cutting mechanism. Unlike manual razors that use a disposable blade, electric razors employ a motor to power the shaving action. This eliminates the need for shaving cream or soap for most users, although some models are designed for wet shaving.

There are two primary types of electric razors: foil and rotary. Foil shavers have a thin, perforated metal screen (foil) that covers the blades. Hair passes through the holes in the foil, where it is cut by the oscillating blades beneath. These are often preferred for their ability to cut close to the skin and for individuals with sensitive skin or fine hair. Rotary shavers typically feature two or three oscillating heads that rotate in a circular motion. The hair is drawn into small openings in these heads and cut by internal blades. Rotary shavers are generally considered better for shaving thicker or coarser hair and for following the contours of the face.

Electric razors are powered by either a cord or a rechargeable battery. Cordless models offer greater convenience and portability, while corded models provide consistent power. Many modern electric razors are waterproof, allowing for easy cleaning under running water and enabling wet shaving with foam or gel. Features like pop-up trimmers are common for shaping sideburns and mustaches. The choice between foil and rotary shavers often depends on individual hair type, skin sensitivity, and personal preference.
