Elektronszegény refers to a chemical species that has a deficiency of electrons. This term is often used in inorganic chemistry to describe elements or compounds that are seeking to gain electrons to achieve a stable electron configuration. Such species are typically Lewis acids, meaning they can accept a pair of electrons from a Lewis base to form a coordinate covalent bond.

The concept of electron deficiency is closely related to the octet rule, which states that atoms tend to gain, lose, or share electrons to achieve a full outer shell of eight valence electrons. When an atom or molecule has fewer than eight valence electrons, it is considered electron-deficient.
