Elektrivool

Elektrivool refers to the flow of electric charges through a material, typically a conductor. The quantity is defined as the amount of charge passing a given point per unit time, and its SI unit is the ampere (A). In most metals, charge carriers are electrons, whose actual motion is opposite to the direction of conventional current.

There are two main forms of elektrivool: direct current (DC), where the flow is in a single direction, and alternating current (AC), where the flow periodically reverses direction. The flow is driven by a potential difference (voltage) and is influenced by the material’s resistance. Current also depends on the cross-sectional area and temperature of the conductor, which affect resistance.

Fundamental relationships describe elektrivool in circuits. Ohm’s law expresses the relation V = IR between voltage, current I, and resistance R in many materials. A more general expression is I = dQ/dt, the rate of change of charge. Electrical power transferred by the current is P = VI, and energy over time is obtained by integrating VI. In conductive media, current density J is related to the electric field E by J = σE, where σ is the electrical conductivity.

Measurement and safety are important aspects. Current is measured with ammeters placed in series within a circuit. Proper insulation, rated components, and protective devices help prevent overheating, electrical shocks, and fires.
