Elektripõleti

Elektripõleti is an Estonian term that translates to electric burner or electric hot plate. It refers to a heating device that uses electricity to generate heat, typically for cooking or heating purposes.

These devices are commonly found in kitchens, especially in smaller apartments or as a supplementary cooking surface. An electric burner consists of a heating element, usually made of a resistive wire, that heats up when an electric current passes through it. This heat is then transferred to the cooking vessel placed on top of it.

There are several types of electric burners. The most basic is the coil burner, where the heating element is an exposed coil. More modern versions include radiant burners, which have a glass-ceramic surface with the heating element underneath, and induction burners, which use electromagnetic fields to directly heat the cookware.

Elektripõleti are known for their simplicity in operation and installation, often requiring just a standard electrical outlet. However, they can be slower to heat up and cool down compared to gas burners. Their energy efficiency varies depending on the type, with induction being the most efficient. Safety features can include indicator lights to show when the burner is hot and automatic shut-off mechanisms. They are a common appliance in many households due to their affordability and ease of use.
