Elektriohutus refers to the state and set of practices aimed at preventing harm from electricity. Safe isolation procedures and lockout/tagout practices are employed to ensure that equipment cannot be energised during maintenance or repair.

This involves design and installation practices that minimize exposure to electrical hazards, regular inspection and testing of equipment, and clear work procedures. Training and awareness for workers, contractors, and users, along with compliance with national regulations and international standards, are essential. The approach often follows a hierarchy of controls, emphasizing elimination or engineering controls before relying on administrative measures and personal protective equipment.
