Einzelüberweisung

Einzelüberweisung is a German term that translates to "individual transfer" or "single transfer" in English. It refers to a one-time bank transfer of a specific amount of money from one bank account to another. This is distinct from standing orders (Dauerauftrag) which are recurring payments, or direct debits (Lastschrift) where the recipient initiates the withdrawal from the payer's account.

In practice, an Einzelüberweisung is initiated by the sender, either through their online banking portal, a mobile banking app, or by filling out a physical transfer form at a bank branch. The sender provides the recipient's bank details, including the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and the Bank Identifier Code (BIC) if it's an international transfer, along with the amount and a payment reference. The bank then processes the transaction, debiting the sender's account and crediting the recipient's account. This type of transfer is commonly used for paying invoices, sending gifts, or making one-off payments for goods and services. The processing time can vary depending on the banks involved and whether the transfer is domestic or international.
