Eheschließung

Eheschließung, also known as marriage, is a legally and/or socially recognized union between individuals. It establishes a partnership between the individuals, often with associated rights and responsibilities. In many legal systems, marriage is a civil contract.

The process of Eheschließung typically involves a formal ceremony, which can be either civil or religious, or both. A civil ceremony is usually conducted by a registrar or other authorized official. Religious ceremonies are performed according to the traditions and rites of a particular faith. Prior to the ceremony, certain legal requirements must usually be met, such as obtaining a marriage license and providing proof of identity and age.

Historically and across cultures, the reasons for marriage have varied widely, encompassing love, companionship, economic stability, social status, and the procreation and raising of children. The legal and social implications of marriage can include joint property rights, inheritance, tax benefits, and the establishment of a family unit.

The dissolution of marriage is typically achieved through divorce or annulment, legal processes that formally end the marital relationship.
