EUdäckmärkningen

EUdäckmärkningen, also known as the EU tire label, is a mandatory system implemented across the European Union to provide consumers with standardized information about the performance of tires. This labeling system allows for easy comparison of different tire models based on three key criteria: fuel efficiency, wet grip, and external rolling noise.

The fuel efficiency rating is represented by a scale from A (best) to G (worst), indicating how much fuel a tire consumes. A higher rating means better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Wet grip performance is also graded from A to G, with A signifying the shortest braking distance on wet roads, a crucial factor for safety. The external rolling noise is measured in decibels (dB) and depicted by one to three black sound waves. Fewer sound waves indicate a quieter tire, contributing to reduced noise pollution.

The EUdäckmärkningen was introduced to promote safer and more environmentally friendly tires. It encourages manufacturers to innovate and produce tires with improved performance characteristics. Consumers can use this information to make informed purchasing decisions, balancing factors like safety, economy, and environmental impact. The label is found on all new tires sold within the EU for cars, vans, and trucks.
