EUBezug

The term blends EU and Bezug (relation/connection). It is not a formal legal concept but is used descriptively to signal EU relevance.

In practice, EUBezug may be used to describe the extent of EU regulatory alignment, market dependency, or reference to EU norms. For a company, a high EUBezug might mean compliance with EU acquis, CE marking where applicable, and reliance on EU supply chains. For policy analysis, it indicates how much a national or regional policy draws on EU directives, standards, or funding frameworks.

Measurement of EUBezug is typically qualitative, with indicators such as alignment with EU legislation, use of EU funding programs, participation in EU-wide standards, and the proportion of market activities within the EU. Since it is not a standardized measure, interpretations vary across studies or reports.

Critics argue that EUBezug can be vague or subjective, and overemphasize EU ties at the expense of local considerations. Proponents view it as a practical shorthand for assessing regulatory and market integration with the EU.
