ESSM
The Evolved SeaSparrow Missile, or ESSM, is a medium-range, surface-to-air missile developed by Raytheon. It is designed for use by naval vessels to defend against a variety of anti-ship threats, including aircraft, helicopters, and other missiles. ESSM is an upgrade of the earlier RIM-7 Sea Sparrow missile, incorporating significant improvements in range, guidance, and countermeasure resistance.
ESSM utilizes a dual-seeker system, combining active radar homing with an infrared seeker for enhanced accuracy
The development of ESSM involved a multinational collaboration, with several NATO countries contributing to its design
