ELTE
ELTE, short for Eötvös Loránd University (Hungarian: Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyeteme), is a public research university in Budapest, Hungary. It is one of the oldest and largest higher education institutions in the country, with origins that trace back to a 17th-century Jesuit college founded by Péter Pázmány. Through the centuries it underwent reforms and reorganizations that culminated in the modern Eötvös Loránd University, named in honor of the 19th-century physicist Loránd Eötvös.
