EBITDAkertoimet, or EBITDA multiples, are a valuation metric used in corporate finance and investment to estimate the value of a company. They are derived by dividing a company's market capitalization or enterprise value by its EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization). This provides a ratio that indicates how much investors are willing to pay for each unit of a company's operating profitability, as measured by EBITDA.

These multiples are commonly used in mergers and acquisitions, as well as for comparing companies within the same industry. A higher EBITDA multiple generally suggests that investors have higher expectations for the company's future growth and profitability, or that the company is perceived as less risky. Conversely, a lower multiple might indicate lower growth prospects or higher perceived risk.

The calculation is straightforward: Enterprise Value / EBITDA = EBITDA Multiple. The enterprise value includes market capitalization plus debt, minus cash and cash equivalents. EBITDA is a measure of a company's operating performance before accounting for financing decisions, tax environments, and non-cash expenses like depreciation and amortization.

EBITDAkertoimet are useful for quick valuations and comparisons, but they have limitations. They do not account for a company's capital expenditure needs, debt repayment obligations, or working capital requirements, which can significantly impact a company's actual cash flow and value. Therefore, they should be used in conjunction with other valuation methods for a comprehensive assessment.
