Polyclonal dysproteinemia, on the other hand, involves an increase in multiple types of immunoglobulins, typically as a response to chronic inflammation, infection, or autoimmune diseases.

Symptoms associated with dysproteinemia can vary widely depending on the underlying cause and the specific proteins affected. These may include fatigue, bone pain, increased susceptibility to infections, kidney problems, or neurological symptoms. Diagnosis usually involves blood tests to measure protein levels, such as serum protein electrophoresis, and may be followed by imaging studies or bone marrow biopsies to determine the specific cause.

Treatment for dysproteinemia is aimed at addressing the underlying condition. For monoclonal dysproteinemias, treatments might include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or targeted therapies. For polyclonal dysproteinemias, managing the underlying inflammatory or infectious process is key. Regular monitoring of protein levels is often necessary to track disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
