Doveclass

Doveclass is a fictional family of small unmanned surface vessels (USVs) used in maritime security fiction and tabletop wargaming. Designed for low-cost, high-endurance patrol and reconnaissance, the class emphasizes modular payload bays, autonomous navigation, and ease of maintenance for littoral operations.

Design and variants: The standard Doveclass hull is a 28-meter monohull with a lightweight composite frame and a hybrid electric propulsion system allowing top speeds near 22–25 knots and patrol endurance of 48–72 hours depending on mission mass. Core sensors include an electro-optical/infrared turret and a compact radar; some configurations add hull-mounted sonar. The class has three configurations: MD (multirole drone) for surveillance; MP (patrol) with enhanced radar and light weapons; MS (mine-sweeping) with mine countermeasure gear. All configurations use swappable payload bays and modular mission racks.

Operational history: In Crescent Sea fiction the Doveclass is widely used for coastal surveillance, environmental monitoring, and disaster relief in civilian authorities; it is noted for affordability and rapid deployment, though its endurance and sea-keeping are limited in heavy seas. The Doveclass appears across novels and games, contributing to its recognition as a symbol of autonomous littoral capability.
