Douarch is a fictional city-state and setting used in speculative fiction and tabletop role-playing games. It is typically portrayed as a coastal metropolis that sits at the crossroads of maritime trade and political intrigue.

Its name is a constructed term; in in-universe lore the word Douarch is said to derive from an ancient tongue meaning “two arches” or “the archway of two tides.”

Geographically, Douarch overlooks a natural harbor and is arranged around a harbor district, a market quarter, and hillside residential wards. The architecture blends stone fortifications with timber-framed houses and arcades that shelter merchants and visitors.

Historically Douarch developed as a major trading power supported by guilds and fleets. Governance centers on an Archon who rules with the Conclave of Guilds, a council representing merchant, maritime, and crafts factions.
