DosSiAl3O12

DosSiAl3O12 is a synthetic alumina-silicate glass and alumina-silicate ceramic matrix composition. Similar materials are also referred to as glass-ceramics or ceramic-glass.

The composition consists of a high silica content combined with di- and tri-sodium silicates, silica-alumina mixtures, and complex sodium silicate-alumina O-O-trisilicate components. DosSiAl3O12 has melting temperatures in the range of 1370-1400°C and crystallization temperatures that range from 850 to 950°C depending on the calcination conditions.

The glass-ceramic properties of DosSiAl3O12 are attributed to the sol-gel process in its synthesis, and are associated with its physical and chemical stability. It combines mechanical strength and properties that resemble ceramic materials, while maintaining thermal shock resistance and heat conductivity performance that is characteristic of glass materials. The resulting material is resistant to tear and wear, and resists cracking and brittleness.

This type of material is used in various applications, including furnace components, interaction components of chemical and industrial processes, water heating and refractory components, inducing precipitation, pneumatic, circulating, submersible pumps and refineries. Glass-ceramic compositions supported such fields of application, using benefits in thermal and mechanical load resistance, interacting during application periods lasting over a year.

It is also worth noting that several other synthetic alumina-silicate compositions serve various industrial uses.
