DonauRies
DonauRies is a geographic region in Bavaria, Germany, located along the Danube river. The name DonauRies, literally "Danube Ries," refers to the confluence of the Danube River with the Ries, a large impact crater. This crater, approximately 24 kilometers in diameter, was formed by a meteorite impact about 15 million years ago. The landscape of the DonauRies is characterized by rolling hills, fertile plains, and the meandering course of the Danube.
