Dogworship

Dogworship, also known as caninolatry, refers to the practice of worshipping dogs as deities or exhibiting an excessive and unwarranted devotion towards them. This phenomenon can manifest in various forms, including the construction of temples and altars dedicated to canine faith, the ritualistic adornment and pampering of dogs, and the mistreatment of humans as inferior to canines.

Historically, dogworship can be seen in ancient cultures, such as the ancient Egyptian worship of Anubis, a god depicted as a jackal or a man with the head of a jackal. Similarly, in Japan, the veneration of natural phenomena, including dogs, is a part of Shintoism.

In modern times, dogworship manifests in the form of worldwide phenomena such as " dog mom" and "dog dad" culture where owners lavish attention and care upon their pets as if they were children. This excessive devotion to canines has sparked debates regarding the ethics of raising dogs as "children," and the implications of devoted attention on the mental health of both humans and dogs.

Dogworship also raises concerns about animal welfare and human-animal relationships. While dog owners can benefit mentally from social support of their pets, the material and emotional resources invested in dog care can exacerbate societal and economic issues. Furthermore, dogworship may contribute to a paradigm shift in which humans are seen as inferior to canines, blurring the concept of species-based animals and humans, and potentially putting both species at an unequal risk.
