Doble

Doble is a Spanish term used as both an adjective and a noun. As an adjective, it denotes twofoldity or two times as much, as in “el precio es el doble” or “una cantidad doble.” It is used to express duplication, multiplication, or repetition and appears in a variety of everyday contexts, from prices to quantities.

As a noun, doble can refer to a duplicate or copy, such as a document or object made to replace another. It also designates a person who stands in for another in performances or filming, commonly called a stunt double or body double. In sports, especially baseball, un doble describes a hit that allows the batter to reach second base.

In ordinary speech, doble appears in several compound phrases, including café doble for a double espresso and doble dosis for two doses. It also occurs in mathematical language as integral doble, the term for a double integral over a region in the plane, and in other technical expressions to indicate twofold aspects of a concept.
