Distribuováno is a term often encountered in computing and systems design, referring to a system or process that is spread across multiple interconnected computers or nodes. These nodes communicate and coordinate their actions by passing messages to one another. The key characteristic of a distributed system is that it appears to its users as a single coherent system, even though its components are physically separate.

The benefits of distributed systems include increased reliability and fault tolerance, as the failure of one node does not necessarily bring down the entire system. They can also offer improved performance by allowing tasks to be processed in parallel across multiple machines, and can scale more easily to handle larger workloads. However, distributed systems also introduce complexities related to data consistency, synchronization, and network latency. Managing these challenges requires careful design and implementation. Examples of distributed systems range from the internet and large-scale databases to peer-to-peer networks and cloud computing platforms. The term itself is derived from the Czech word for "distributed".
