Fungi in this genus are characterized by their distinctive macroscopic and microscopic features. They typically form small, erumpent fruiting bodies, known as perithecia, which are often embedded within host tissue. These perithecia are usually dark in color and possess a characteristic ostiolar neck.

Microscopically, Diskreetsetenas species exhibit uniseptate ascospores that are often hyaline or lightly pigmented. The asci are typically cylindrical to clavate and contain the ascospores. The conidial state, if known, is often hyphomycetous. Diskreetsetenas fungi are primarily found on decaying woody substrates, playing a role in decomposition. Their geographical distribution is relatively limited, with most known occurrences reported from specific regions.
