Directwerkend

Directwerkend is a Dutch adjective used to describe something that acts directly, without mediation or indirect steps. The word combines direct with werkend (working). In Dutch technical and administrative writing, it conveys immediacy of effect or operation.

In science and engineering contexts, directwerkend is used to characterize agents, processes, or devices that interact with a target without requiring intermediate transformations or signaling. For example, directwerkende agents in chemistry or pharmacology refer to compounds that exert their effect directly at a receptor or substrate, rather than as a metabolite or after an intermediary step. In engineering, a directwerkend actuator or mechanism acts on its output directly, without intermediate gears or controls.

In organizational discourse, directwerkend can describe decision-making or implementation that bypasses layers of administration to effect action on the ground. The term is more common in Dutch-language sources and may appear in bilingual technical glossaries. In English-language writing the corresponding concept is usually described with phrases such as direct-acting, direct-operating, or direct implementation, depending on domain.
