Dioptriásak

Dioptriásak is a Hungarian term that appears sporadically in optics discourse. The root dioptria denotes the diopter, the standard unit of optical power. The form dioptriásak refers, in plural, to items or groups defined by their dioptric power, such as lenses or optical components. The term is not a standard technical term in international ophthalmology or optics and is more commonly encountered in regional, historical, or informal contexts.

The word is built from dioptria plus the adjective dioptriás (dioptric) and the plural suffix -ak. In practice, dioptriásak may be used to denote lenses, eyepieces, or assemblies whose power is specified in diopters, or collections of such elements. It can also refer to adjustable-focus optical systems where the diopter value can be altered.

In optics, a diopter (D) measures optical power, equal to the reciprocal of the focal length in meters: D = 1/f. Positive diopters indicate converging (correcting farsightedness), negative diopters indicate diverging (correcting nearsightedness). The concept extends to camera and telescope optics as well, where dioptric adjustments align focal properties with viewing needs.
