Dilutsioonid

Dilutsioonid, commonly referred to as dilutions, are a fundamental concept in chemistry and various scientific fields. A dilution is the process of reducing the concentration of a solute in a solution, usually by mixing it with more solvent. This is achieved by adding more solvent to a given amount of a concentrated solution. The amount of solute remains the same, but the total volume of the solution increases, thus decreasing the concentration.

The key principle behind dilutions is the conservation of the amount of solute. The formula commonly used to calculate dilutions is M1V1 = M2V2, where M1 is the initial molarity (concentration) of the concentrated solution, V1 is the initial volume of the concentrated solution, M2 is the final molarity of the diluted solution, and V2 is the final volume of the diluted solution. This equation signifies that the number of moles of solute before dilution (M1V1) is equal to the number of moles of solute after dilution (M2V2).
