Digitaalvõimendust

Digitaalvõimendust is the Estonian term for digital amplification. It refers to the process of increasing the amplitude of an electronic signal using digital processing techniques. Unlike traditional analog amplifiers that manipulate continuous voltage or current levels, digital amplifiers operate on discrete numerical representations of the signal.

The core principle involves converting an analog audio signal into a digital format, typically through an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This digital data is then processed by a digital signal processor (DSP). The DSP can perform various operations, including amplification, equalization, filtering, and other signal modifications. Finally, the processed digital signal is converted back into an analog waveform using a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) before being sent to a loudspeaker or other output device.

Digital amplifiers offer several advantages, including potentially higher efficiency, reduced susceptibility to noise and distortion, and greater flexibility in signal manipulation. They are commonly found in a wide range of audio equipment, from home stereo systems and portable music players to professional audio interfaces and automotive sound systems. The precision of digital processing allows for highly accurate and repeatable amplification characteristics.
