Diffractio
Diffractio is a Latin term that translates to "diffraction" in English. In physics, diffraction refers to the phenomenon where waves, such as light or sound, bend and spread out as they pass through an aperture or around an obstacle. This bending causes the waves to deviate from their original straight-line path. The extent of diffraction depends on the wavelength of the wave and the size of the aperture or obstacle. Smaller openings or objects relative to the wavelength will result in more pronounced diffraction.
This effect is a fundamental characteristic of wave behavior and is responsible for various observable phenomena.
