Diesel cans, also known as diesel fuel containers or diesel jerry cans, are portable containers designed to store and transport diesel fuel for vehicles and equipment. They are commonly used by motorists, fleet operators, farmers, and construction workers to carry fuel for refueling on-site or during transit.

Construction and design: Most diesel cans are made from heavy-duty HDPE plastic or metal and are built to resist the chemical properties of diesel. They typically feature a carrying handle, a stable base, a screw-cap or pour spout with a gasket to prevent leaks, and a vent to minimize glugging during pouring. Many models include a one-way valve, a locking cap option, and sometimes child-safety features. The containers are often color-coded or clearly labeled to indicate their contents, and the nozzle is designed to control flow and reduce spills.

Safety and handling: Containers intended for diesel should be used only for diesel fuel and kept separate from gasoline to avoid misfueling. Follow local regulations regarding approved containers and labeling. Store diesel cans upright, in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from heat sources, flames, sparks, and direct sunlight. Use on level ground and keep them out of reach of children. Always keep caps closed when not in use and never siphon fuel by mouth.

Maintenance and disposal: Regularly inspect cans for cracks, deformation, or leaks and replace damaged units. Clean the exterior and nozzle after use to prevent residue buildup. Dispose of damaged containers and residual fuel in accordance with local environmental regulations.
