Dienophylus
Dienophylus is a genus of extinct cartilaginous fish that lived during the Devonian period. Fossils attributed to Dienophylus have been found in deposits dating back approximately 360 to 380 million years ago. The classification of Dienophylus within cartilaginous fish, or Chondrichthyes, is based on certain skeletal features that suggest its evolutionary relationship to modern sharks and rays. However, detailed anatomical studies are challenging due to the often fragmentary nature of the fossil evidence.
The known remains of Dienophylus are primarily composed of isolated teeth and dermal denticles, which are small,
The precise paleoenvironment in which Dienophylus lived is inferred from the geological context of its fossil
