Dibromohydrins

Dibromohydrins are a class of organic compounds characterized by the presence of both a hydroxyl group and two bromine atoms attached to a carbon chain. They are generally derived from alkenes through addition reactions involving bromine and water, or through reactions involving epoxides and hydrogen bromide. The most common example is 2,3-dibromo-1-propanol, which is formed by the bromination of allyl alcohol.
